This video illustrates the lumbar diskectomy procedure:
After a small incision is made in the back, some bone is
removed from the back of the spine to expose the bulging
disk and the nerves. The herniated part of the disk is removed,
which releases the pressure on the pinched nerve and causes
pain relief. This procedure can be performed in a minimally
invasive fashion.
